Re: Wednesday, January 17, 2007, Planning Commission meeting
Item 10B
Application numbers: 06TA006 and 06CUP016
After hearing the presentation by “The Farms” regarding its pursuit of a Conditional Use Permit to operate at 2030 Montana, the Wilshire-Montana Neighborhood Coalition’s board urges the Planning Commission to grant the market’s request.
It’s our Board’s understanding that an increase in the allowable square footage limit from 3,000 to 4,000 would permit “The Farms” to continue operating as a neighborhood market. Given the establishment’s longstanding roots in our community and the overwhelming support for the market from our residents, the Board unanimously supports “The Farms” move to secure the Conditional Use Permit.
It is of particular note that, as gentrification, density and parking problems increase in our neighborhood, “The Farms” symbolizes the spirit of human scale ambience that we believe is conducive to the continuation of a positive, neighborhood-friendly atmosphere.
Sincerely,
